When Grades Will Be Updated and Procedure For Improving Grades
Mr. McKelvey will update grades once or twice a week depending on the assignment and urgency of the update. Usually grades are updated Friday-Sunday each week; however, if assignments are graded within class, the assignment may be updated earlier. Essays take a bit of time for analysis and assessing, so expect a two to three week turnover for such grades.
Late assignments, late essays, or retakes of test will be assessed and graded after current or on time work has been updated or inputted into the SIS system. Sometimes, late work will be updated earlier depending on the time available to assess and grade the late work.
Extra credit is seldom offered, but may be made available to students upon Mr. McKelvey's assessment of the necessity of such work. Extra credit is only available to students who have completed all current and past assignments. Do not ask for extra credit if you have not completed all missing and current assignments.
*9th English Composition Information: You cannot retake a Timed Reading Test, but you can take an alternative Timed Reading assessment to improve your SIS score; however your recorded score for a particular Timed Reading will remain as is so that your timed reading fluency scores will remain current within the department. Please see Mr. McKelvey if you have questions about these particular assessments.
Otherwise, work hard, learn, do your best, prioritize your assignments, and remain consistent with your homework.
I look forward to seeing your growth as writers, thinkers, and human beings.
Respectfully Yours,
Mr. William N. McKelvey
